Intake & Admissions Process

Our admissions process is designed to be clear and straightforward. We guide guests, families, and referrers through each step so there is no confusion about expectations or readiness.

Taking the step toward residential recovery can feel overwhelming. Our intake and admissions process is designed to be clear, respectful, and supportive from the first point of contact. We guide guests, families, and referral partners through each stage so expectations are understood and decisions are informed.

While families and supporters are welcome to reach out with questions, intake screening and readiness assessments are completed directly with the individual seeking admission to ensure clarity, consent, and personal engagement in the process.

STEP 1: REACHING OUT

The process begins with an initial phone call or online inquiry. This first contact may be made by the individual seeking support, a family member or loved one, or a professional referral source.

This conversation provides an opportunity to ask questions, learn more about Forest City Healing Centre’s 28-day men’s residential recovery program in London, Ontario, and explore whether the program may be a helpful next step.

There is no pressure to make decisions at this stage. Families and supporters are welcome to reach out for information and guidance.

STEP 2: INTAKE SCREENING

If it feels appropriate to move forward, an intake screening is scheduled. The intake screening is completed directly with the individual seeking admission, ensuring informed consent, clarity, and personal engagement in the process.

This guided conversation focuses on understanding the person’s current situation and readiness for residential treatment.

Topics typically include:

  • Substance use and recovery history
  • Mental and physical health considerations
  • Overall stability and safety
  • Previous treatment experiences
  • Current supports and challenges

While families may support planning and coordination, the assessment itself is conducted with the guest.

STEP 3: READINESS & PROGRAM FIT

Following the intake screening, our team reviews the information together to determine next steps. Forest City Healing Centre is a non-medical residential recovery program, and guests must be able to participate safely in daily programming, peer connection, and community living.

If additional stabilization or support is needed prior to admission, this is discussed openly, and we help explore appropriate community-based options.

The goal is to ensure a safe, appropriate fit; not to rush admission.

STEP 4: PLANNING FOR ADMISSION

Once a guest is accepted, we work together to plan for admission in a way that feels clear, supported, and realistic.

This may include coordination with:

  • Family or personal supports
  • Referral agencies or withdrawal management services
  • Healthcare providers
  • Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs)
  • Public or nonprofit funding partners, where applicable

Our focus is on clear communication, realistic timelines, and a smooth transition into residential care.

OUR RECOVERY APPROACH

Forest City Healing Centre follows an abstinence-focused residential recovery model. We recognize that recovery is not always linear, and our approach emphasizes accountability, learning, and continued engagement rather than punishment.

Safety, respect, and dignity guide the admissions and intake process at every stage.
