This continuity helps ease the transition home and supports sustained recovery over time.

Health, Nutrition & Culinary

Nutrition is an integral part of daily structure and wellbeing at Forest City Healing Centre. All meals are prepared in-house and served at consistent times to support routine, physical health, and emotional regulation.

Guests receive three balanced meals daily, along with snacks, in a shared dining environment that encourages connection and accountability. Meals are intentionally predictable, varied, and familiar to reduce decision fatigue and support steady energy throughout the day.

CLINICAL & PROGRAM LEADERSHIP

The program is shaped by the combined experience of addiction professionals, clinical leaders, and medical specialists with backgrounds in mental health, substance-use care, withdrawal management systems, community outreach, and residential treatment.

Clinical operations are led by experienced addiction professionals with expertise in assessment, crisis response, motivational interviewing, relapse prevention, and structured recovery programming. Medical oversight supports safety, ethical practice, and alignment with provincial standards.

Programming is evidence-based and informed by established recovery and behavioural-health practices. While no therapeutic outcomes are guaranteed, the program is grounded in responsible clinical judgement, consistency, and respect for each individual’s recovery process.

CLINICAL & PROGRAM LEADERSHIP

Forest City Healing Centre’s programming and daily operations are guided by experienced clinical and program leadership with extensive backgrounds in addiction treatment, mental health services, and residential recovery settings.

Program oversight is led by Tom Cruikshank, Program Director, who brings over a decade of frontline experience across addiction treatment, withdrawal management systems, community mental health, and residential care environments. His background includes intake assessment, motivational interviewing, relapse-prevention planning, crisis stabilization, and interdisciplinary collaboration within hospital and community-based systems.

Clinical leadership emphasizes evidence-based practice, ethical decision-making, and clear program structure. This approach ensures consistency, safety, and accountability while supporting individuals through a critical stage of early recovery in a non-medical residential setting.

Medical oversight is provided to support clinical integrity, safety, and alignment with provincial standards, ensuring the program operates responsibly within Ontario’s broader continuum of care.
